The Beagle Channel Boat Trip Itinerary:

  • Bird Island (Isla de los Pájaros): Our first approach to the local wildlife during this Beagle Channel boat trip. We will observe imperial and Magellanic cormorants, albatrosses, and petrels in their natural habitat, understanding how these species adapt to the extreme conditions of the south.

  • Sea Lion Island (Isla de los Lobos): A privileged close-up of South American sea lions and fur seals. An excellent opportunity to photograph their behavior and enjoy the exclusive maritime environment of the Beagle Channel boat trip.

  • Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse: The undisputed icon of Ushuaia. Beyond the classic postcard, this tower illuminates the history of 20th-century navigators and is the silent witness to the famous shipwreck of the Monte Cervantes in 1930.

Ushuaia Essentials:

The Beagle Channel boat trip represents the quintessential maritime experience of the island. GALLERY

The interior of the catamaran is perfectly heated, so you will travel super comfortably. However, to go out to the outdoor decks to take pictures, it is essential that you bring a windbreaker jacket, hat, and gloves, as the wind on the channel is usually quite strong and cold.

The navigations are done in large, modern, and very stable catamarans, so the tour is generally very calm. If you are very prone to seasickness, we suggest eating something light before boarding, sitting in the middle seats of the boat (where you feel the movement less), and, if necessary, stepping out to the outdoor decks for a moment to breathe fresh air and look at the horizon.

Yes! The boats have an onboard cafeteria service where you can buy hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate), soft drinks, pastries, alfajores, and snacks throughout the tour.

There are no age restrictions! It is an easy and enjoyable activity for the whole family, ideal for babies or older adults, as it requires no physical effort. Additionally, children under 11 pay 50% of the fare, and children under 3 travel free of charge.

It depends on the exact tour you book. The classic navigation (which visits Sea Lion Island, Bird Island, and the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse) does not reach the penguin area. If your main goal is to see them, you must make sure to specifically book the Penguin Rookery Navigation (Isla Martillo) tour, which takes a longer route through the Beagle Channel.
